Don't Quit

Good Morning from the Lone Star State! Even though I am snuggled into my favorite perch wrapped in blankets, the sun warms my soul and I look forward to another fabulous day!

I wanted to share this with you because so many of my friends and family (myself included) are going through some pretty tough times.  It was a poem that I kept with me for years and every time I thought I couldn't go on, I took one more step...

Don't Quit

"...let us run with endurance the race that is set before us looking unto Jesus..."  Hebrews 12:1-2

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You might succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit.

From the time I was born, I was an adventuresome spirit...always wanting to know why, what, when, where, how something worked...  My love of reading and my imagination took me to places of excitement and wonder.   (I loved tales of Sinbad the Sailor)  I had very little fear and couldn't stand being confined.  I was a tiny little person with a big heart and always ready to cheer on the underdog.  I loved animals and from a very early age, had this drive to "find God."  As a survivor, who I was in character and spirit helped me tremendously.  With each new counselor, with each one foot forward and one foot back, with each interview, with each painful uncovering ... I thought, "No matter what, I will not quit!

Until tomorrow, I wish you all God speed ... give someone a word of encouragement ... a pat on the back ... a hug ...  I will be in prayer for each of you reading my blog...  just remember, DON'T YOU QUIT!!!!!

  2. One of my favorite poems of all time... As the years go by something I heard a long time makes more and more sense. "The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you."
